For many retail destination visitors, making a special trip to the mall is an established part of the festive season. And as retail destinations focus more on delivering memorable customer experiences, there’s plenty going on to attract shoppers.
Shopping centres have been reshaped dramatically into destinations supporting customers’ modern lifestyle needs. They’re places where they can indulge themselves at a spa, new restaurant, have fun with the family or take care of some of life’s necessities. But over the festive season, they’re all about the fun.
There are plenty of festive activities at the mall from Santa’s grotto, ice skating, foodie treats, Christmas blockbusters at the cinema and, impacted by social media, photo opportunities like snow globes and interactive displays.
As communities of their own, many will also now hold carol singing programmes, Christmas markets and will welcome new retailers for the Christmas season in pop-up shops.
In fact, most have probably just held or are about to hold their Christmas lights switch-on parties often inviting a special guest for the ceremonial switch-on and sometimes holding fantastic parades and displays.
So whether people are there to enjoy some mulled wine, Christmas treats and to listen to a special performance or whether they’re going all out and meeting Santa, joining in at ice-skating and catching a Christmas movie release, you can be sure that malls have Christmas all wrapped up.
